Animal experiences in the farm museum
Many different animals used to live on the farm.
During an interactive guided tour through the Farmhouse Museum Allgäu-Oberschwaben in the municipality of Wolfegg, children and adults alike get to know the museum animals, some of which are free-roaming.
Together we visit, among others, Lilly, the Swabian-Haellian country pig, the two goats, the chickens and the rooster, give way to the goose and watch the original Allgäu brown cattle grazing. We learn a lot of interesting facts about the keeping and nutrition of the animals as well as about the utilization of the different animal products. The children are then allowed to help with the barn work themselves: Under professional guidance, we first cut the grass with a child-friendly scythe and feed it to the museum animals. Then we learn how to milk on an artificial udder.
To thank them for their valuable help, we will make a small souvenir at the end of the day.
